LGBT Justice in Honduras Reception

Saturday November 14th, 4-6pm
114 W. 5th Street, L.A. 90013

Latino Equality Alliance (LEA), API Equality, Roots of Equality and Lavender LA invite you to join a special reception for

Indyra Aguilar
Honduras LGBT Community Leader

Who will talk about the wave of “social cleansing” murders and crimes against the LGBT community in Honduras—including the 8 murders that have been confirmed—since the coup d’état that deposed democratically elected President Manuel Zelaya this past June.

Not unlike the movement that was born after the passage of Prop 8 here in California and Stonewall in 1969, the LGBT community in Honduras has taken to the streets to protest the long-standing injustices against its community. The convergence and unity of the LGBT movement with other democratic and justice movements is probably unprecedented, and might be a watershed in the movement for equality and justice throughout the Americas.

*$ 5-10 suggested donation, light refreshments will be served*
